Frequent Questions
Why do we do baby dedications? At New Life we consider it a privilege to join with parents and dedicate the children to the Lord. Another important part of this dedication is to lead the congregation to embrace the opportunity to regularly pray for the family.
The Bible records the story of Hannah in 1 Samuel 1. This mother promised to dedicate her son to the Lord when God blessed her with a child (1 Samuel 1:11). We also read in the New Testament that Joseph and Mary took baby Jesus to the temple for dedication (Luke 2:22). These examples serve as models and we do not believe the dedication is a requirement. We do however believe that dedicating a new born baby or a child to the Lord is a very special in the life of the family. We love supporting our families and encouraging them in this way!

Baptism is an outward expression of an inward change that has taken place in our lives. This is a work that has been accomplished by God. The act of baptism is a public expression of faith in Jesus Christ and it serves as a proclamation of our commitment to Him.
Why should I be baptized?
Baptism is a public declaration of your identity in Christ
Therefore we have been buried with Him through baptism into death, so that, just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, so we too may walk in newness of life.
Romans 6:4
Baptism was commanded by Jesus
Go, therefore, and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to follow all that I commanded you; and behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”
Matthew 28:19-20
What are the requirements for baptism?
Now when they heard this, they were pierced to the heart, and said to Peter and the rest of the apostles, “Brothers, what are we to do?” Peter said to them, “Repent, and each of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins; and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.
Acts 2:37-38
Baptism is not necessary for salvation because salvation does not come by the works of man. Only Jesus saves, by His grace through faith in Him. Baptism is simply the next step in announcing your faith by publicly acknowledging the decision you have made to follow Christ and live for Him!

For this reason a man shall leave his father and his mother, and be joined to his wife; and they shall become one flesh.
Genesis 2:24
We believe that it is honorable before God that one man be joined together with one woman. We are pleased to support this work of God in your life and our desire is to assist you and honor God as you enter into this sacred union.
