As a kid growing up in a Southern Baptist church, I remember when Sunday evenings were dedicated to discipleship. As a teenager, I remember that many of my Sunday afternoons were spent setting beside a deacon going through discipleship training. I was not a Christian at the time, but God allowed that experience to become very formative part of my spiritual growth later in life. By God’s grace that discipleship training experience created a love and appreciation for God’s Word. For the past few weeks on Sunday evening we have had core seminar training from 5:30-6:30. This has been a great time as we have focused on the husband / wife relationship. We will have a few more core seminars throughout the year and they are designed to encourage the church in faith development. After our Easter series we will have a core seminar on generosity. This content will encourage New Life folks to create a generous heart for the sake of the gospel. In November we will have a core seminar designed to help parents develop a discipleship relationship with their kids. I am excited about both of these training sessions and I want to encourage you to begin thinking about those topics and how they relate to your life.
The Sunday’s that we do not have a core seminar scheduled are specific times that are available for you to find a friend for prayer time, accountability and scripture reading. On January 6th 2019 we started the year with a prayer that God would grow healthy disciples at New Life. I am praying that God uses our Sunday evenings as a formative discipleship training time to encourage our faith family toward growth as disciples. Obviously we will have kid camp on Sunday evenings so parents take advantage of the hour and use it as a opportune time to meet with someone that will encourage you in the faith. I want to provide all of the resources at my disposal to help encourage your faith and hope in Jesus. Pastor Billy Comments are closed.
