This coming Sunday we are going to pick up right where Pastor Billy left off. Romans 6:12 will be our key verse, which states, "Therefore do not let sin reign in your mortal body so that you obey its lusts." At the time of salvation for the believer, he is pronounced victorious in the fight over sin before he even steps into the ring with it. That is justification which has removed us from the penalty of sin. However, there is a command in verse 12 that we absolutely cannot miss. Paul says very clearly, "Do not let sin reign."
But if I'm justified by faith and the fight over sin is already won, why should I be worried that sin is reigning over me? How is that possible? There is another phase that follows being justified. Sanctification is the process of becoming holy in the life of the believer and removing oneself from the power of sin. Paul spends his time in Romans 6 discussing Sanctification. The life of a Christian is not meant to just survive over sin until death. Because of Jesus, we flex our spiritual muscles over sin and death. I hope you'll join us on Sunday, August 12, as we will be discussing what it looks like for us to have authority over sin - as opposed to it ruling over us. I look forward to our time together this Sunday! I love this church and I love you! Pastor Dan Comments are closed.
