This is critical time to pray for our world and our church! As I think about the challenges of our day I want to call the church to a time of focused prayer. For the next two weeks (beginning on April 1st and ending on April 15th) I would like to invite you to pray as individuals and families twice a day (morning prayer and evening prayer) for our world and our church. As we pray together, remember these two passages. Let’s pray expectantly! “Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all comprehension, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” (Philippians 4:6-7).
Let’s pray with boldness! “Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened.” (Matthew 7:7-8). Pray for the World Pray For God’s Mercy: What is God saying to us? Pray that we learn to hear his voice in this season. God often uses disruptive spaces to catch our attention and call us to a deeper intimacy with him, and that all would turn to him and his saving grace. Pray for God’s mercy for those who are sick (James 5:11-14) Pray For Our Leaders: Whether it be for our local, state, and federal government leaders or church leaders. Pray that God would give them wisdom to lead and make important decisions that impact so many of us (1 Timothy 2:1-2). Pray For Health Care Professionals: There is a segment of our society that serve on the frontline of combating the virus and caring for the sick. Pray for doctors, nurses, public health officials, and EMTs (to name a few). Pray that God would give them course and wisdom in the season Pray For the End of the Virus: We are not sure how the pandemic will come to an end but pray and ask God that he shorten the days of its impact Pray for our church Pray For Our Elders: Pray for our elders who are making decisions related to leading and serving the church at this time. Pray for humility, unity, and wisdom in leadership as we seek God’s leading and guiding (Hebrews 3:18). Pray For Our Ministries: Pray for the many ministries of our church to navigate “online” and “virtual” means of connecting, serving, and ministering to others. Pray for our deacons as they serve the families of the church through regular communication. Pray For Our Church: Pray that this is our opportunity for the church to live out our faith and be a witness to our community. Let us testify that God is good even when our circumstances aren’t. Pray that we stay on mission, fully focused on worshipping God, loving others, and making disciples Pray For Our Families: Pray for the members and families of our church as they steward their time at home and navigate these uncertain times. Pray for our kids and students to trust in God during this time of uncertainty. Pastor Billy Comments are closed.
