We live in a day of much fear and anxiety. Perhaps your fear and anxiety has increased over the past few weeks because of COVID-19, but the reality is we have existed in this realm as Americans for many years. According to the Anxiety and Depression Association of America, the most common mental illness in the U.S. are anxiety disorders, affecting nearly one in five adults every year. The New York Times cites that Americans are among the most anxious people in the world, causing us to spend over $2 billion on anti-anxiety medications every year.
Easter 2020 will definitely be a day to remember. This year was the first time in the history of our nation that the majority of churches were empty. This is a day that churches typically have their highest attendance. But because of COVID 19 the majority of church services were canceled. Thankfully we have several opportunities through technology to stay connected even in year with much confusion. As you may recall for the past two weeks we have been in the greatest material concerning the resurrection.
I am thankful for the resources we have to connect with people during this time of social distancing. I am encouraged to hear personal victories in your life through spiritual growth. I look forward to connect with many from the church family through zoom meetings and phone conversations. I also recognize that this season is teaching me to value the relationships and specifically the regular corporate meetings we often experience at New Life.
